My new favorite show

I've been sitting here trying to come up with something to blog about and I haven't had much luck. All I seem to think about is what needs watering or weeding in my garden, what I'm going to make for dinner, or what time I'm going to watch another episode of Weeds.

Ah, Weeds.

I had heard about the Showtime show several times over the years but never really looked into it. Then at Christmas we were visiting some friends in Pennsylvania and the conversation turned to talking about the show. I mentioned I hadn't seen it and immediately my friend leapt out of her chair to lend me the Season 1 DVD. Here it is July and I still had not watched it.

But now, my world is changed.

The characters and plot lines of Weeds have infested my brain and filtered in to my everyday thoughts. Thomas ordered this little Roku box that hooks up to stream movies and shows directly from Netflix. It connects over wi-fi, we can search for titles, pause movies, and hold on to them for as long as we'd like. Of course we didn't hold on to Weeds for very long. We flew through the first two seasons in about three days and then we thought it was over and we'd have to wait for the next season. Not the case, we just had to wait for the next DVD to arrive in the mail. It's been five long and suffering days but it is here, the Season 3 DVD. Alleluia!

This is so funny...
I not only re-started up my Netflix again last week, but my first item for shipment was Weeds, season 1. I suppose I had heard about it since Mary Kate Olson made a cameo on there; not that I am in any way shape or form a Mary Kate fan (shhh) but, really though; I'm not. ha.

So, I rented, I watched... I LOVE.
I am now on Season 1, disc too.
Also, when I was on Netflix getting my membership all set up again- I looked into the Roku (sp)... which is so funny you did a post about just THAT!

I read online though that by fall you can do the same thing with the Xbox360 and since the hubs is a video game-aholic, we have every Xbox & Playstation ever made and of course the Wii. So, I am holding out until fall for the Xbox feature so I can watch when I want without waiting to mail things back- yay!

Is the movie player pretty sweet?
Maybe I'll still invest..?

the Roku box is pretty nice because it just works. It's always waiting to play something for you, no booting up, no jet engine sounding fan noise, and no worrying about the dreaded microsoft red ring of death interrupting you movie streaming goodness. On the other hand you need to find another input on your television/receiver, and if you wait until the 360 update (September) you'll save $100
