Happy Monday!
Here we are, it's Monday again. I spent my weekend trying to learn CSS, but what I really learned was that I don't even know HTML. I have always labeled myself as a "print designer" so that I could shy away from the evils of web design. I had managed solely as a print designer until just recently one of my clients kept asking me to update their website. How could I say no to a steady paycheck? I dug out my Adobe disks and installed Dreamweaver and after a few weeks I was humming along editing text. Of course, once you do a little text editing then the client needs pictures and press releases posted. Suddenly entire days were being filled with web edits! What? Begrudgingly, I decided it was about time to officially learn the internets.
And let me tell you, if you have an engineer for a husband and you start talking code not only does he not stop pawing at you but he buys you fun toys like this new little printer.
The Polaroid POGO wirelessly prints little stickers. One online review said it was "great for teen girls." To which Thomas replied, "That's how I knew you'd love it!" Thanks, hon.
Oh, and Saturday also brought this! Very exciting.
What? When?
I have no idea how it got to be Thursday. The last week flashed by without stopping to say hello. I had to go back to my iPhoto to see if I had even taken any pictures. I couldn't remember, but what do you know? I did!
I went paddle boating around the Oceanside Harbor with my friends where we ran into this guy having a lazy snooze in the sun.
And, my sister was in town on her boat the S.S. Classy.
Then we had a fire. Gross.
They managed to keep the fire contained on Camp Pendelton and no homes were lost. So all in all I guess it's been a good week but I'm struggling to figure out where it went.
Confucius say...
We unnecessarily bought a box of chocolate covered fortune cookies at Costco this weekend. (Because that's what you do at Costco, you go in for one thing and two cases of beer, five pounds of ground beef and a box of chocolate fortune cookies later the cart is so heavy you can barely maneuver it through the gargantuan isles to find what you actually went there in the first place to get!) They are really good, so good in fact that I had one after breakfast today. I was pleased with my fortune and skipped over to show it to Thomas.
"We must be getting each other's fortunes," he said. I disagreed saying that my fortune was perfect for me. That was until he ate a cookie and showed me his fortune.
He's totally right.
Trying to salvage our Sunday
It's been one of those weekends where I've been to Lowe's three times, four times if you include Thursday into the conversation. Our hall bathroom had a slow leak that gradually became too annoying to avoid any longer. Thomas determined that some piece inside the tank was so old and corroded that it just wasn't functioning properly. Off to Lowe's we went to get a new piece, we replaced it but it leaked. Now we needed a new hose to connect the toilet to the valve in the wall. To the hardware store! We changed the hose and now the ancient valve that connects to the pipe deep into the wall was leaking. Guess where we went. Now, to fix the leaking toilet we have to turn off the water to the house.
Somewhere in the middle of all this I decided to unload the dishwasher only to find an inch of water in the bottom of it. I flipped through the manual and Thomas searched internet forums to troubleshoot our ailing dishwasher. We took apart all the plumbing to check for clogs and that wasn't the problem. So we took apart some of the dishwasher and discovered thick hard water residue and years of food goo. Gross! After cleaning the filters as best we could, we cracked out the CLR and ran that through. Twice.
At 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon we had one plumbing problem that required the water to be OFF and one that needed the ON.
We left and went to the beach.
